As a product designer at Sony, I collaborated with Sony’s Advanced Technology Department on a telepresence project that utilized depth sensing technology and projection mapping to create an immersive communication experience. The prototype system used depth sensors and ultra short throw projectors to display remote users at full scale and in 3D, allowing for real-time interactions and eye contact, enhancing the sense of presence. My role involved researching telepresence applications, designing and storyboarding various use-case scenarios, and prototyping them in Unreal Engine. I developed 3D models, built environments using content packs, and implemented game logic through Blueprint visual scripting, delivering a live demo at INFOCOMM 2017. The methods and applications of this telepresence system were awarded patents, for which I produced sketches and diagrams and worked with a patent attorney to file.
